Habbo Pilots A Dual Currency Economy In The UK
Some fairly massive (well, in our opinion) news from the world of Habbo that might have crossed your path already—as of this week, Habbo's UK service is now offering a "dual currency" economy.
What this means is that the world, which previously only offered "credits" which had to be purchased with real-world money, now also offers a currency known as "pixels" which are earned by using the world regularly (and for extended periods of time) and by performing achievements.
This system is currently being piloted only in the UK, but will be offered in other countries in future if it is considered a success.
In his (surprisingly low profile) blog post announcing this, Habbo lead concept designer Sulka Haro said, " The user feedback is of course mixed, but given the ratio of positive vs negative comments, I think we'll get pretty good overall rating in the final evaluation of the release," adding that he'd " like to thank everyone who's participated in the GDC 'Free to Play, Pay for Stuff' round tables" as he was "fairly sure this would not have happened without those sessions."

What took Habbo so long to realize this ? 3 years actually the idea was initially proposed in Habbo China and the entire HQ at Helsinki shut it down. Watch-out Habbo some of the guys whom had proposed so many good stuff which were shot down are now one of the top developer of virtual worlds and is rumoured to be producing 5 virtual worlds while I heard Habbo service business had done none so far after VMK. Can anyone guess who these new guys on the block are ?
